About this limited edition photograph:
The photograph “Pam’s Grotto- One” was created at Pam’s Grotto in Johnson County, Arkansas.
It was a short but beautiful hike to get back to Dismal Hollow. We could see that the sky was just about to dump a heavy rain on us during our hike, and as soon as Scott Dankof and I walked under the cave overhang it began pouring rain. Perfect timing! A stream from above flows over the cliff edge and creates a waterfall that flows over the mouth of the cave. This waterfall is typically just a trickle, but when it rains this waterfall quickly turns into a torrent. Once again perfect timing, as what was a trickle waterfall when we arrived soon turned into a thunderous waterfall due to the heavy rainfall. Scott and I both setup our cameras on our tripods to capture the resulting waterfall transformation. This photograph was early on, so the waterfall was just beginning to grow in intensity. The photograph Pam’s Grotto- Two shows the waterfall with a much heavier flow.
I created this long exposure photograph by setting up my Canon 80d camera with a Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX II lens on a tripod and taking a 6 second exposure. Scott had placed various LED light panels to the sides of the frame to illuminate the inside of the cave.
